Offical Charity Partner

Make A Wish

Southern Cross Round the Bays 2025 is proud to announce that Make A Wish is our official Charity Partner.

Round the Bays 2025 will focus on raising money for a New Zealand charity that works to grant special wishes of Kiwi kids with life-threatening medical conditions. Critical illness steals childhood from a child. A wish returns it.

Every day, a child in New Zealand is diagnosed with a critical illness. These children go through stressful, relentless medical journeys, but a wish can bring a spark of joy back to their childhoods.

Make-A-Wish Board Chair Struan Abernethy says, “A wish is not a fleeting gift – it’s a carefully planned journey, designed to complement a child’s medical treatment, and give them the hope, strength, and joy they need to cope with their illness”.

“We are thrilled to partner with Round the Bays to help us raise the vital funds required to grant more wishes”.

There are over 300 Kiwi kids waiting for their wish to come true right now. Will you join Team Wish and help their wishes come true by running in Round the Bays for Make-A-Wish?

Halberg Foundation

Sports Youth Fund recipient

In 2021, to celebrate our 50th year, Round the Bays launched the Sports Youth Fund, gifting $10,000 annually towards an individual or team to help them achieve their sporting goals. We are excited to announce Halberg Foundation as the Sports Youth Fund recipient for 2025.

Since 1963, Halberg Foundation has ensured that young Kiwis with physical disabilities have had equal opportunity to access sport and recreation.

Founded by the late Olympic gold medallist, Sir Murray Halberg, Halberg Foundation provides direct support and opportunities for disabled young people and their families. It also offers the opportunity to apply for funding from their Activity Fund for specialist equipment and lessons, and help to educate sport and recreation providers on how to be more inclusive of people with disabilities.
