Kia ora! Thank you for putting together a team for our first ever Southern Cross Round the Bays 2025 in Christchurch – it's going to be an epic event!

Here is some useful information for you and your team to help you prepare for the big day.  We can't wait to see you there!

Find your hospo site number below to see where your team is stationed on the day and let them all know.

Getting you set for the day

Take a moment to read through our helpful Site Manager Guide below so that you're fully prepared and can make the most of your experience.

Our Hospo Zone is located just past the finish line at Thomson Park. Look out for the Hospo Zone arch and signage to help you find your site(s).

Vehicle Access Pass

The Hospitality Vehicle Access Pass entitles ONE vehicle to access your hospitality site to drop off your gear during pack in and pick up your things post event from 1.00pm.

No cars are to be parked on your site during the event. Please park on the roads surrounding Thomson Park. Get their early so that you don't miss out!

Please print out your Access Pass from the link below and display it on your dashboard BEFORE you enter Thomson Park.

To ensure safe and easy access for all participants and vehicles, please keep access areas clear at all times. The pass includes information on entry and exit points, as well as routes around the park.

Health and Safety Induction

At Stuff Events, we want to ensure the safety of all users at Thomson Park. Thomson Park is a public space so please be aware of pedestrians and other users of the park at all times.

When bringing a vehicle onto the park, please ensure that it is escorted by someone on foot. Each vehicle should have a driver and a ‘walker.’ The speed limit at Thomson Park is walking pace only (5kmph). The walking person must wear a Hi-Vis vest and maintain a lookout for potential hazards. Please drive with your headlights and hazard lights on to help increase your visibility.

Please ensure that you have completed your Health and Safety Induction form before arriving on site. Your suppliers will need to complete the Health and Safety Induction form too before entering Thomson Park.

Access Times

You can access Thomson Park to set up your site during the following Pack In and Pack Out times:

Pack In:
  • Saturday 29 March: 8.30am to 4:00pm
  • Sunday 30 March: 6.30am to 8.30am

To avoid road closures on Sunday 30 March, all hospo site holders and suppliers must drive along Lonsdale Street to Marine Parade. Head to 142 Marine Parade and turn left immediately next to the property onto a grass track which leads to the Hospo Zone. There will be no access from Bowhill Road on to Marine Parade or Thomson Park.

Pack Out:
  • Sunday 30 March: 1.00pm to 5.00pm

Please note there will be no vehicle movement permitted on Thomson Park before 1.00pm on Sunday 30 March. If you intended to leave the park before this time, we recommend you park outside of the area. See the Site Managers Guide for more information.

Bib Collection

If you're collecting bibs on behalf of your team members, please make your way to Bib Collection. Otherwise, please inform your team members about the location and opening hours for Bib Collection so that they can pick up their own bibs.

  • Friday 28 March: 8.00am - 7.00pm
  • Saturday 29 March: 8.00am - 4.00pm

Temporary Road Closures and Parking Restrictions

There will be several temporary road closures and parking restrictions during the event. To avoid any delays, we highly recommend that you plan your travel and allow for extra time.

Road restrictions will start to be enforced from 4.00am on Sunday 30 March along the course. One way traffic will be maintained along the majority of the course, excluding Marine Parade from 7.00am.

New Brighton

  • Marine Parade will be closed between Bowhill Road and Bridge Street to all traffic from 4.00am - 1.00pm. We encourage all residents to exit North New Brighton via Pages Road.
  • Bridge Street eastbound lane will be closed. The westbound lane will remain open for eastbound traffic only to exit New Brighton.
  • There will be a managed crossing at the Estuary Road and Bridge Street roundabout to support public buses and local residents exiting South New Brighton.

State Highway 74

  • The southbound lane on State Highway 74 (Dyers Road) will be closed between Humphreys Drive and Bridge Street. Diversions will be in place, but the northbound lane will remain open at all times.

Ferrymead

  • The southbound lane of Linwood Avenue/Humphreys Drive between State Highway 74 and Ferry Road will be closed. The northbound lane will remain open at all times. There will be a managed pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights at Tidal View.
  • Tidal View will be closed fully to all traffic and residents during road closures from 6.00am to 11.00am.
  • The cycle path on Humphreys Drive and Tidal View will be closed during 6.00am to 11.00am. Diversions will be in place.

Roads will be opened progressively as the roads clear of foot traffic and waste is removed. Safety is paramount.

Approximately from 10.30am, we will have two-way access from Tidal View to State Highway 74. We will endeavour to have two-way traffic on State Highway 74 from 12.00pm and all other affected roads open to two-way traffic from approximately 1.30pm.
